9 Obscure or Forgotten Chevy Vehicles
Chevy has been around for many years, and they have produced cars, trucks, SUVs, station wagons, and everything in between. Check out some of the obscure or forgotten Chevy vehicles from the past.
- Chevrolet Sprint – This vehicle came out in 1984 to compete with compact vehicles from other brands. It helped Chevy come up with a compact car strategy.
- Chevrolet Model 490 – Motor Biscuit tells us, “If the Model T was the car that put America on the road, then the Model 490 is the car that launched the Ford/Chevy rivalry. Launched in 1915 (for $490), the car was Chevy’s first attempt at a mass-market car and started at $5 cheaper than the Ford. Compared to the spartan Tin Lizzie, the Model 490 could be had with electric lights and a starter — major innovations for the era. By the time production ended in 1922, over 750,000 units had been sold.”
- Chevrolet Greenbrier – The Chevy Greenbrier was a compact van that was inspired by the compact car the Corvair. The Greenbrier was offered from 1961 to 1965.
- Chevy II – This vehicle was built to compete with the Ford Falcon. It is sometimes referred to as the Nova, but the Nova was just a trim level available on the Chevy II for several years until the Nova became the name later on.
- Chevrolet Kingswood – The Kingswood was the largest station wagon offered by Chevy. This vehicle had a lot of features, and it was known to be very comfortable.
- Chevrolet Cavalier – The Cavalier came out for the 1982 year, and it was a best-selling car for Chevy in its time. They even came out with a convertible version for 1983.
- Chevrolet Spectrum – According to Consumer Guide, “Joining the Nova as part of Chevrolet’s import-fighting initiative was the Spectrum. Built by Isuzu in Japan, and a close cousin to that brand’s I-Mark, the Spectrum gave Chevrolet a subcompact entry with which to lure import intenders. The Spectrum would become a Geo model for 1989, and would be replaced by the sportier Isuzu-built Geo Storm for 1990.”
- Chevrolet Yeoman – This vehicle was a station wagon with a linoleum-covered cargo area. It was available in two or four-door options.
- Chevrolet Uplander – The Chevy Uplander came out in 2005 and was known as a crossover sport van. This unique minivan option lasted until the 2009 model year.
